Desolation of the Dragon MUD is a fantasy role-playing game called a MUD (Multi User Dungeon). If you are familiar with DND, then you will be at home on a MUD. The game is text based, all you need to play is a standard telnet client.
If you have experience as an immortal on a MUD, we are always looking for help. DOTD is currently run by two of the original implementors, however they don't have the time they used to, and we are looking for a new head admin. If you have experience running a mud, talk to Garil or Nabu, or fill out the application.
DOTD has been online since 1996, and is in it's second incarnation, as a modified SMAUG mud. The DOTDII source is available for download at the DOTD Source link. We are open for players and are in constant development!

Note that all these features are implemented as part of the MUD and all of them provide the same data as what you would get by playing on the MUD itself. It's the groundwork for being able to play from the web, with your favorite web browser!

MCCP proxies (MUD Client Compression Protocol). These work with your
non-MCCP clients to support compressed connections to the MUD. They are
not required to connect to the mud.
